CIPM-ILAC MoU
The Comité International des Poids et Mesures (CIPM) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), recognising the need to strengthen the links between accreditation and metrology and to cooperate and to coordinate their actions in respect of their tasks related to national and international measurement infrastructure, signed an MOU on 3 November 2001. Under this MOU the two organisations:
- agree that appropriate cross references will be made in their MRAs and will promote cooperation at the regional level;
- agree to ensure the timely exchange of information on matters of common interest;
- will strive to harmonise future policy on matters of common interest;
- will cooperate to provide cross representation on international assessments;
- will ensure mutual representation on working groups;
- agree to meet at least on an annual basis;
- agree to invite representatives as observers to each other’s general assemblies;
- will encourage their member bodies and regional co-operations to explore arrangements to extend the national and international measurement systems into the broader community of users.
