ILAC Structure

Eight Committees assist in progressing the work of ILAC: Accreditation Committee; Arrangement Committee; Laboratory Committee; Marketing and Communications Committee; Arrangement Management Committee, Joint Development Support Committee, Finance & Audit Committee and Proficiency Testing Consultative Group.

    To assist in progressing the work of ILAC, several Committees have been established. These are:

    Arrangement Committee - responsible for harmonized implementation and continual improvement of the ILAC Arrangement. Deals with the approach of accreditation bodies to the assessment and accreditation of laboratories, the establishment of agreements between accreditation bodies and related policy areas. For more information on the activities of this committee contact the Committee Chair:

    Accreditation Committee - responsible for harmonisation and improvement of accreditation practice at the international level. It is involved in the investigation of technical issues related to accreditation, and the development of technical documentation related to ILAC's work.     Laboratory Committee - provides a means of interaction and exchange of ideas between ILAC and the laboratory community. For more information on the activities of this committee contact the Committee Chair:

    Marketing and Communications Committee - responsible for internal and external marketing and communication issues.  It is involved with the promotion of ILAC's objectives, and the publication of ILAC documents, newsletters and other information.     Arrangement Management Committee - responsible for the day-to-day management activities of the Arrangement and provides advice on its further development and operation. For more information on the activities of this committee contact the Committee Chair:

    Joint Development Support Committee - responsible for representing the interests of developing countries and operates in conjunction with the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). This committee provides a forum for developing countries to present their needs and to work with ILAC and IAF on practical ways of addressing these needs.     Finance & Audit Committee - responsible for oversight of ILAC’s financial accounting and reporting systems.  Reviews and audits the finances of ILAC and provides advice on financial matters to the ILAC Executive Committee and General Assembly.     Proficiency Testing Consultative Group - responsible for policy and technical advice to ILAC Committees and members on issues related to proficiency testing and its relevance to accreditation, along with development of associated documentation.  For more information on the activities of this committee contact the Committee Chair:

    Joint Committee for Closer Cooperation - responsible for the stewardship of joint ILAC/IAF activities.

     

    Joint Committee for Inspection - responsible for the harmonization of accreditation practices and improvement of ILAC/IAF inspection activities.

     

    ILAC members participate and contribute to these committees, or to working groups established by the committees to address particular issues or areas of accreditation.  Overseeing the work of the committees and the overall direction of the Cooperation is ILAC's Executive Committee, consisting of an elected Chairman and Vice Chairman, as well as the chairmen of the above Committees, plus representatives of various regional and unaffiliated accreditation bodies. The Executive Committee meets on a regular basis to review progress and plan further work. The Executive Committee and the seven other Committees report to the members at each general assembly.
