17025 Communiqué
The Joint ISO-ILAC-IAF Communique on the Management Systems Requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005, General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, was originally signed on 18 June 2005. The Communique was revised in January 2009 to refer to ISO 9001:2008 rather than ISO 9001:2000. It was produced to relieve the confusion caused by the perception that accredited laboratories do not operate a recognised quality management system. The Communique should be read in conjunction with the covering letter dated 8 January 2009.
ISO 15189 Communiqué
The ISO-IAF-ILAC communiqué on ISO 15189 accreditation was issued to address the misconception in the market that medical laboratories accredited to ISO 15189:2007 do not operate a recognized management system.
The above link is the Second Communication to be issued with respect to the WADA/ILAC cooperation regarding anti-doping laboratories. The First Communication was released in August 2004 during the early stages of the cooperation. WADA and ILAC have since signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dated 15 November 2007, and this can be obtained from the ILAC website. The MoU provides useful background information on the nature and context of the cooperation and should be consulted in associated with this document.
